2010 Season Ending Individual Tournament

Our MD golf team played wonderfully in our season ending individual tournament. Seventy middle school golfers participated in the tournament held at Twin Brooks Golf Course on Wednesday October 27, 2010. Shorecrest had an excellent showing with three golfers finishing within one shot of the winning score. Two separate playoffs were needed to decide first and third places. Our team had two individuals Brian K. and Jonathan C. competing in the third place tiebreaker. The two-hole playoff was as exciting as it could be but eventually concluded when the St. Raphael’s golfer taking third place outright. Top to bottom we had our best showing with our highest individual score only being 42.

Shorecrest ended up placing fourth behind some very good competition this year, despite earning the second lowest scoring total of all the teams. The First Tee of St. Petersburg gave out two awards. Brian K. received the team MVP Award and Sabrina M. earned the Best Attitude Award. Coach Every is so proud of our Chargers. The team displayed the perfect balance of hard work, winning the right way and fun on and off of the golf course. He looks forward to an equally fantastic season next year.

Our MD golf team placed first in their final regular season match posting the season’s best score of 134. The match was held at Twin Brooks golf course, which is also the site for our final individual match to be held on October 27, 2010. The Chargers beat the season long point leader LCC, head to head and made up some ground Wednesday. Our team was lead by 7^th grader Brian K, who shot his season low of 28. Congratulations to our Chargers on their superb play.

Shorecrest 146 Cypress Links 10/6/2010

The Shorecrest MD golf team tied for 1st place with a team score of 146 but eventually placed 2nd after figuring in the 5th score of the two teams. The Chargers were led by 7th grader Brian K. shooting the best score of the day 31. The breezy conditions made scoring tough for the entire field but our team managed to post some good numbers. Come out and support our team as we play our last regular season match next Wednesday at Twin Brooks.

Shorecrest – 137, 9/29/2010 at Twin Brooks

The MD golf team played very well in their match at Twin Brooks this week. Only 12 strokes separated our lowest score from our highest, contributing to our most consistent effort thus far. The contest was extremely close with only two strokes being the difference between first place and third. Two other teams played well at the match but hats off to our team for their stellar play and superb sportsmanship in their hard fought third place finish. Final scores were: Thurgood Marshall Jaguars 135, St. Pete. Christian 136, Shorecrest 137, and Open Public Team 145.

Shorecrest MD Golf - 1st place.

The Middle Division golf team notched its first regular season victory on Wednesday September 22, at Cypress Links golf course. Our team played very well top to bottom and it showed in our scores. We recorded our best team score of 136 and gained four points for the day. Two of our golfers posted their personal best for the season, shooting 32 only 5 over par. This accomplishment is even sweeter considering that it poured rain on us for 15 minutes. Congratulations Chargers.

Shorecrest MD Golf 144 - 9/15/10 Cypress Links

The MD Golf Team’s season began on Wednesday with our first match at Cypress links. We were happy to have had beautiful weather and good course conditions for our first match. We shot a good team score of 144. Both Jonathan C. and Matt D shot our low score of the match 34. Overall we placed third in the match but only nine strokes separated 1st from 3rd. LCC took 1st with 135, St. Pete Christian 2nd 141, Shorecrest 3rd 144, and St. Raphael’s placed 4th with 159. We are excited to get back to the golf course and put in some more hard work. Parent Meeting

Our MD Golf Parent Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 pm on Thursday September 16, 2010. It will be held in the MD Pavilion behind the new building. It should only last about 15 minutes. I look forward to seeing you there.

Lets get it Started!

Tryouts are now complete and we have 10 skilled golfers making up the squad for 2010. We will begin our regular regime of hard work in practice on Tuesday and Thursdays and great play on Wednesdays. Coach is very excited to help get our team to the next level. Come out and support us as we compete in the first match of the year on Wednesday 9/15/10, at Cypress Links golf course.

MD Golf: tryouts continued...

The Middle Division Golf Team is now halfway through tryouts as we begin the week. We have a great group of golfers vying for one of the coveted nine spots available on the team. Coach Every and Wolfrath are excited by the play of the golfers thus far and look forward to the season to come. Go Chargers!
